How Our Filters Work to Keep Your Water Clean

Our filters are so effective at reducing contaminants found in water because of the carbon block inside the filter. The specially prepared carbon is incredibly porous, giving it tremendous surface area to capture microscopic particles.

Sediments – Class I Particulate reduction: to ½ - 1 micron.

How much Sediment / Particulate is reduced under Standard 42 is noted by “Class. ” Class I Particulate reduction: to ½ - 1 micron.

On Our Filters: As the incoming water passes through the carbon block inside CertifiedPure, the larger particles get stuck outside surface. This removes sediment from the water.

NSF / ANSI Standard 42 & 53

Standard 42 – Aesthetic Effects: designed to reduce specific aesthetic or non-health-related contaminants (chlorine, taste, odor and particulates) that may be present in public or private drinking water.

Standard 53 – Health Effects: designed to reduce specific health-related contaminants, such as Cryptosporidium, Giardia, lead, volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) and MTBE (methyl tertiary-butyl ether), that may be present in public or private drinking water.

On Our Filters: Some impurities, like chlorine, are reduced by a rapid chemical reaction upon contact with the carbon. This improves the taste and smell of the water. Then, the carbon block acts as a magnet for compounds like lead and VOCs, trapping the contaminants. This reduces potentially harmful substances found in water.

Cyst – 

Cyst are not bacteria or viruses, but one-celled organisms in an earlyphase of development, very much like a microscopic egg. Cryptosporidium and Giardia lamblia are two common examples found in water. One of the most reliable ways to remove cysts from your drinking water is through activated carbon filtration. 

On Our Filters: Cysts are large enough that CertifiedPure can safely take about 99% of them out of your drinking water.

Each NSF standard sets thorough health requirements and performance criteria for specific types of products.
